Ravelry has tens of thousands of knitting patterns, but finding one that matches the yarn already in your hands is surprisingly hard. unraveled makes searches by gauge — the stitches-per-inch fingerprint of your swatch — and ranks results by how much knitters actually loved making them.

There's also a search by season: pick a season and see which patterns knitters were making then — a little trends archive of what was popular when.

It grew out of gauge-matcher, a scrappy little script that outgrew its terminal. The next step is sweater-vision: skip the search box entirely and just show it a photo.
